Some people say that we don’t have enough trails, or a plan for them
By the end of the year, we will have enough trails to run a full marathon on!
Providing a high quality and Hike and Bike trail system has been a priority of the City for many years. The beginnings of the trail system can be traced back to the beginning of Andy Brown Park in the 1980’s. The citizens of Coppell have made it very clear that trails are important. This message has been strongly conveyed in the 2030 and 2040 plans, through Citizen’s summits, through the Park Board, and during Citizen’s appearances at City Council meetings.
The city has continued to plan for, and budget for, new trails, and trail improvements each year. Trails are expensive to build and maintain, and the Council works diligently to ensure that budget includes our trail system.
Our trail system currently consists of 23.2 miles of trail and connectors which provides easy access at any point within the City, and connects to the regional trail system linking other surrounding communities. In just the last five years, we have completed nine different trail projects. Some of these include the West Sandy Lake Road side path, Freeport Parkway Trail (North of Bethel), the Redevelopment of Andy brown East &West trails, the Campion Trail Extension, the Moore Road Bike path, and the Parkway Blvd. side path. We have completed 8.25 miles of trails since 2015.
The City of Coppell has a developed a Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan that guides future trail improvement for the city.
A copy of that plan may be found at:

In addition to the Master plan, the city also published a Community Wide Implementation plan which was designed to formulate strategies to manage future opportunities and challenges. That plan may be found here:
